Take Your Daughter To Work Day
We had a very exciting visit to the University of California Office of the President on April 24th, Take your Daughter to work day!
Many thanks to Carla Rafetto, Manager, Web Application Development, for arranging for our visit! Kristine Hafner, the CIO, met directly with the girls and shared some of her experiences of being a woman in the technology field. We were also very lucky to have Tara Brant, Technology Service Desk Manager and Michael Shannon, Director of Technology Support Services meet with the girls.
Special thanks to Steve Cavalli, the Data Center Manager, and his staff for the very informative tour of the data center. He made this a fun and informative experience.
This was our first outing and it would not have been a success without the help of Mrs. Ginny Mills, the librarian of Glenbrook who was able to attend and make sure that everything went smoothly.
All of the people at the University of California Office of the President were engaging and helpful. The girls were surprised to find that people enter the technology field with a variety of training and education, from linguists to biologists to English teachers!
